Aerophobia: how to deal with it?

Aviation is considered one of the safest modes of transport. You may already know this, but you still have a fear of flying and during air travel.
So, you are prone to aerophobia, as psychologists call the fear of flying on aircraft. Please note that we are not talking about any disease, but simply about the emotional state of a person.

Psychologists believe that the main cause of aerophobia is irrational, i.e. groundless, fear of flying. A person begins to show an increased interest in information about plane crashes long before the flight begins. He’s worried about the weather, and condition of the aircraft and qualification of crew, and more associated with the flight, what he does not understand, but what tends to make their own, often negative, conclusions and insights. And on Board the plane, such a person listens to the noise of the engine, closely monitors the movements of the crew members, in short, collects any information that supports his fear. How to overcome aerophobia? We immediately dismiss the” national remedy ” – the use of alcohol. And getting drunk on a plane to the point of insanity is a real danger, not an imaginary one.

The best thing in a situation where you are overcome by fear of flying is to try to look at it in a different way. Not as a dangerous and unpleasant procedure for you, but as an interesting journey, a pleasant adventure that can give you new impressions and positive emotions. You are comfortably seated in the seat, special devices and the crew monitor the temperature in the cabin, food and drinks are stored for you, there is a first aid kit in case of illness, the crew members were specially trained to help passengers. And a lot of people on the ground, highly qualified specialists, are closely watching your flight.

You can take a NAP, read, chat with a neighbor – during the flight, you do not need to take care of anything, all the worries and problems were taken over by other people.
