Hostels are an inexpensive and popular alternative to hotels

The definition of hostels as small inexpensive hotels is correct in its essence, but does not fully disclose the content of this relatively new concept for us.

And the famous Hollywood film by Eli Roth “hostel” made some confusion in the minds of some of our citizens-these hotels have become associated with the horrors shown there and ultra-free mores.

In practice, the owners of hostels, opening their business, first of all, as a rule, think about creating maximum comfort, cozy atmosphere and security for guests in their institutions, since competition in this sector of the hotel services market is very high today.

After all, in addition to the actual hostels themselves, they have to compete with the private sector, as well as with ordinary hotels and mini-hotels. The latter are also very actively developing, this is noticeable by the increase in the number of offers such as “mini hotel SPb” on specialized sites.

Experts say that the occupancy rate of hostels in the summer season is close to 90%, in the winter it is 60%, this is a very good indicator-higher than for hotels in General.

There are many types and varieties of hostels. This definition includes converted ordinary apartments with four or five bunk beds, and small but solid establishments with comfortable rooms and even apartments, the cost of living in which is still lower than in ordinary hotels.

Hostels In Moscow

The interiors of some hostels resemble the atmosphere of expensive hotels, in the rooms – facilities and stylish furniture, in the corridor – reception. And others are similar to their “progenitors”, student dormitories-Spartan atmosphere, shared showers and toilets. There are hostels that differ little from ordinary apartments – with a kitchen, a hospitable hostess and a familiar home environment for many .

Hostels In Moscow

Special mention should be made of thematic hostels. Here, the creative approach and imagination of hostel owners truly knows no bounds. Some of them position themselves as small cultural centers, organize exhibitions of works by local artists, photo exhibitions, and sales of applied art. Inform their guests about the news of cultural life. Some hostels are decorated in a national style, retro style, imitate the Soviet style.

Small and, by definition, inexpensive establishments, such as hostels, find it difficult to attract customers with discounts and bonuses, following the example of “big brothers” – hotels. But their owners are also creative here, and some price preferences still take place. Some places offer discounts to students (upon presentation of a student card – 10%) or those who choose to stay in this hostel for the third time, sometimes even free accommodation is possible (on the guest’s birthday).
